The University of Arizona sponsors the following honors and awards programs.
- 1885 Distinguished Scholars
Recognizes outstanding mid-career faculty who are both leading experts in their field and highly valued contributors to the teaching, research, and outreach missions of the University of Arizona. Nominations are due Friday, February 17, 2012 by 4:00 PM. - Regents' Professors
The highest of faculty ranks and is reserved for tenured professors with exceptional achievements.
Nominations are due Friday, September 30, 2011 by 4:00 PM. - Honorary Degrees
Recognizes distinguished contributions to the University, the State, the Nation, or the world. The call for nominations is issued in mid-September and are due in the Office of the Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost on Friday, December 2, 2011. - University Distinguished Professors
Honors faculty who have made sustained contributions of consistent educational excellence. Nominations are due on Friday, December 2, 2011. - University Distinguished Outreach Faculty
Recognizes faculty who have made outstanding contributions to outreach at the University of Arizona, in the State of Arizona and the nation. Nominations are due on Friday, December 2, 2011. - UA Teaching Awards
Recognizes outstanding teaching achievement and include the Provost's General Education Teaching Awards, the Henry and Phyllis Koffler Prizes and the Leicester and Kathryn Sherrill Creative Teaching Award. These awards are offered through the Office of the Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost and the University of Arizona Foundation. Nominations are due on Friday, December 2, 2011. - The UA Academic Leadership Institute
The Institute is open to faculty and shared governance leaders, academic and Administrative department heads, associate and assistant deans, and individuals identified as emerging leaders. Applications are due March 9, 2012.

Honorary Degrees

Regents' Professors
The designation of Regents' Professor is an honored position reserved for faculty scholars of exceptional ability who have achieved national and international distinction. The title Regents' Professor serves as recognition of the highest academic merit and is awarded to faculty members who have made a unique contribution to the quality of the University through distinguished accomplishments in teaching scholarship, research or creative work. Nominations are due on Friday, September 30, 2011 by 4:00 PM.

Annual Faculty Teaching Awards
Each year, the University of Arizona recognizes faculty for their accomplishments. The university community is encouraged to nominate deserving faculty members to receive awards for distinguished teaching and scholarship.
University Distinguished Professors
The University Distinguished Professor Award was created in 1995. Those honored have demonstrated throughout their careers that they have made a difference in student lives through personal commitment, mentored a broad range of undergraduate students, demonstrated in their classroom or discipline one or more of the following forms of scholarship: integration, application, teaching and discovery, and fostered an attitude of critical inquiry, encouraging students to question assumptions, challenge conventional wisdom and to scrutinize evidence carefully. The call for nominations is issued annually in mid-September and are due in early December.

University Distinguished Outreach Faculty Award
This award recognizes faculty who have made outstanding contributions to outreach at The University of Arizona, in the State of Arizona and the nation. The call for nominations is issued annually in mid-September and are due in early December.

University Awards for Outstanding Achievement in Teaching
Criteria for awards that are offered through the Office of the Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost and the University of Arizona Foundation. These awards include the Henry and Phyllis Koffler Prizes, UA Foundation Leicester and Kathryn Sherrill Creative Teaching Award and the Provost's General Education Teaching Award. Award recipients will be honored at the Awards of Distinction Ceremony in April at the Student Union Memorial Center. The call for nominations is issued annually in mid-September and are due in early December.
