Associate Vice President for Research & Regents' Professor
Dr. Neal Armstrong has been a Regents’ Professor of Chemistry & Biochemistry and Optical Sciences at the University of Arizona since 1978. In 2014, Dr. Armstrong was named an Associate Vice President for Research in the Office for Research & Discovery. His research interests include the interface science of solar energy conversion and energy storage materials, surface and interface characterization using photoemission spectroscopies and scanning probe microscopies, electrochemistry, and the development and characterization of new solar energy conversion platforms. Dr. Armstrong is also the director of the UA’s Energy Frontier Research Center, funded by the U.S. Department of Energy Office of Science. In his role at the Office for Research & Discovery, Dr. Armstrong oversees the direction of our core facilities and the articulation of the strategic plan.
