The African American

The African American Advisory Council would want to insure that Transformations processes including consolidations and workforce reductions would not erode The University of Arizona's efforts to recruit and retain diverse faculty, students, and staff.

I cannot comprehend why

I cannot comprehend why anyone would suggest the Honors Advisor position be eliminated. Ever since my freshman year, Dave has been a crucial part of my success as a student. Unlike most advisors at the University, Dave makes an effort to get to know his students and helps them to achieve their individual goals. I honestly don't think I would be where I am today as a student at Eller if it weren't for Dave's guidance.

The UA President’s Hispanic

The UA President’s Hispanic Advisory Council (HAC) is pleased to provide its evaluation of this White Paper/Proposal, with the specific goal of relating it to the joint UA/HAC goals concerning diversity and inclusion, recruitment, retention and graduation of Hispanic students and faculty, and on meeting the UA goal of becoming a Hispanic Serving Institution by 2012. Additional criteria used when reviewing this proposal include the following: UA’s land grant institution status and thus its location in the southwest and the changing demographics of this area; innovative program design, including instruction methodologies; and whether the proposal realistically addresses the UA’s business needs. HAC’s mission it to strengthen relationships between the UA and the diverse communities within the State of Arizona by serving as a communications conduit and developing mutually beneficial partnerships.

HAC has reviewed this proposal and rates this as:

Revamp – this proposal does not sufficiently address the Hispanic Advisory Council criteria and should be revamped

Why would you ever comment to

Why would you ever comment to remove the Honors Advisor Position? I don't know whether or not you are an honors student, but allow me to show you what Dave (the Honors Advisor) has done to change my college career. When I was a freshmen, he got to know me personally and helped me map out an 8-semester plan. At first, I wasn't too sure what major I wanted to focus on. Unlike other major advisors, he is extremely knowledgeable in all areas of the business college. Because of his advice and through his support, I was able to apply to Eller after 3 semesters. He also encourages me to get involved with activities that help me with my career development. Dave is not only an honors advisor, he is also in charge of putting together the Biz Quiz team. This is a team that represents Eller College in a national competition. Because he is friendly and knows all his students personally, he is able to put together the best team to represent Eller. I hope this information helps you understand how valuable DAVE really is to his student in the Eller community.

I don't understand why anyone

I don't understand why anyone would suggest that Dave's position be eliminated. I have no idea where I would be today without Dave. When I used to get general Honors advising, my advisors did not seem to care less. Every time I went to visit the general Honors advisors, they would introduce themselves as if I had never met them before, and it was really insulting. When I decided to become pre-business, Dave blew me away with how professional and friendly he is. He always makes me feel like I can succeed in Eller and helps me to get involved. He is a great advisor, and the U of A needs more Honors advisors like him.

I believe Dave is vital to my

I believe Dave is vital to my college success thus far. He knows all of his students by name and provides helpful advice both academically and in career development. He is the most supportive adviser I have had. Because he cares so much about his students and gets to really know all of his students, he is able to answer every question and provide suggestions on how to improve their college career. He has helped me find the right organizations to get involved in, helped me plan my academics to reach my career goals, and provides any support he can to help me reach these goals.

I completely disagree with

I completely disagree with the previous comment. Dave has been extremely vital to my success in the Eller College. Without Dave's guidance, I would not be where I am today. He is extremely knowledgeable and provides many Honors students with great advice.

I suggest that the Honors

I suggest that the Honors Advisor Position is eliminated. I see no value added to the Honors student success by offering such service in-house.
