Recognizing Shared Governance and Faculty Governance Service

Updated 10:51 a.m. May 17, 2021

In recognition of the effort and time commitments that the leaders in particular devote to the shared governance and faculty governance, the Provost and the Chair of the Faculty have agreed that support be provided in the form of stipends, teaching relief, and/or Service Workload Assignment, and that for each of these leadership roles, at least 10% of the person’s Workload Assignment in the Service category shall be assigned to this activity.

Faculty leaders who do not have significant Workload Assignment in the Teaching category, or whose teaching contributions are not measured in Credit Hours (CHs) should work with their academic college deans to determine an equivalent accommodation.

For other shared governance and faculty governance roles, such as membership on any of these committees or service as a senator, the Workload Assignment in the Service Category should be set at 5% of the person’s Workload Assignment in the Service category.

In all cases, recognition via stipend, teaching relief and/or Service Workload Assignment is limited to one governance role at a time.
