Multidisciplinary Interventional, Surgical and Cardiovascular Simulation Program
Implementing high-quality educational programs
Janet Sabuco, Associate Dean of Finance and Administration, College of Medicine-Phoenix, submitted a proposal titled, “Multidisciplinary Interventional, Surgical, and Cardiovascular Simulation Program” and was awarded $273,920. The primary goal of this request is to invest in a simulation training platform (including hardware, software, and technical support) that will provide “procedural training for medical students in a variety of minimally invasive endovascular techniques, spanning multiple specialties including interventional radiology, interventional cardiology, vascular surgery, and neurosurgery” ~Janet Sabuco. In terms of the UA Strategic Plan, this program will empower the Center to provide experiential, innovative and immersive simulation education and reflects the importance, value, and need to provide a high-quality education to UA COM-P medical students. To sustain the program, the plan is to use it not only for current medical students but also for continuing education and maintenance of certification or re-entry courses, where added tuition revenues would be generated.
