Honorary Degrees

Purpose

Honorary degrees recognize distinguished contributions to the university, the state, the nation, or the world and are awarded at commencement.  

The University of Arizona awards Honorary degrees in order to recognize significant achievements within the academic environment and in the world at large. These degrees provide the University with an opportunity to honor individuals for their contribution to the University of Arizona, the state, the nation, or the world.

We encourage you to identify candidates to nominate for honorary degrees. These honorary degrees, which recognize distinguished contributions will be awarded at upcoming ceremonies.

Approved Degrees
• Doctor of Fine Arts
• Doctor of Humane Letters
• Doctor of Humanities
• Doctor of Laws
• Doctor of Letters
• Doctor of Music
• Doctor of Science

Submission documents:
1. Letter of Nomination and Biographical sketch (maximum 500 words)
2. Curriculum Vitae or Resume
3. Faculty Vote Result

All nominations must be submitted via UA Competition Space by November 29th, 2019 at 5:00pm. The system will not accept applications after the 5:00pm deadline.
