HPC Infrastructure Proposal
Empowering discovery
Jeremy Frumkin, Executive Director of Research Technology, UITS submitted a proposal titled, “HPC Infrastructure Proposal” and was awarded $700,000. The primary goal of the project is to “ensure that the University of Arizona’s research high-performance computing infrastructure has sufficient capacity to support the growing amount of data science and big data research happening at the UA” ~ Jeremy Frumkin. This project aligns with the UA Strategic Plan in terms of supporting research in the space sciences, earth sciences, and health sciences as it relates to the concepts of the fourth industrial revolution economy. To sustain the infrastructure, a one-time funding from the PIF supports maintaining the level of infrastructure needed to meet the increasing demands even as there is already a well-established program with sustained funding.
