Invitation to Faculty: Join the Provost for a Conversation About Student Success
Share your insights and help shape our path forward.

Dear faculty,
I hope you are enjoying the summer and finding some time to recharge before the start of the new academic year.
It is hard to believe that it has already been two months since I began my role as Provost. In that time, I have had the privilege of meeting with many campus leaders, students, faculty, staff, and community members who make this university a place of world-class education, impactful research, and meaningful community engagement with the people of Arizona and beyond.
As faculty members, you play a central role in advancing the mission of our institution through teaching, research, and service, and I want to hear from you to better understand what we do well to serve our students and what challenges or barriers you see our students facing. I am hosting a series of small, in-person conversations with students, faculty, staff and community members. Please join me at one of these informal sessions.
During these sessions, I am interested in hearing your thoughts on how to best structure services and departments supporting the student experience, including the Student Culture and Engagement Hub. Together, I hope we will explore ways to strengthen our commitment to our students’ sense of belonging and their retention, progression, graduation, and career success, and to make meaningful improvements to the support we provide to every student throughout their Wildcat journey, from enrollment through graduation.
Each session is limited to 20 participants, on a first-come basis. Sessions will take place on main campus in Tucson. Location information and discussion prompts will be shared in advance with registered participants.
Sessions Details:
- Wednesday, Aug. 6, 11 a.m.–12 p.m.
- Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2–3 p.m.
- Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2–3 p.m.
- Monday, Sept. 8, 1–2 p.m.
Thank you for all that you do. I look forward to meeting you and learning from your experience and insight as we work together to deliver on our commitment to our shared university mission and success for every student.
With appreciation,
Patricia A. Prelock
Provost and Chief Academic Officer
