Illya Riske

Illya Riske is the Executive Director of Business and Finance for the Provost’s Business Office. In this role, he provides advisement on business and financial matters, supports strategic planning and oversight, and leads a team of financial managers who support the Provost’s leadership team.

Riske’s public sector career began in state government where he worked for ten years in leadership at the Arizona Governor’s Office of Strategic Planning and Budgeting, the Arizona Department of Child Safety, and the Arizona Department of Transportation. Within each of these roles, Riske provided Executive leadership with sound and strategic financial advisement and support to deliver critical services to the public.

Most recently, Riske has been in Executive leadership at the City of Mesa’s Department of Arts and Culture where he led operational teams, supported three Foundation support boards, maintained strong relationships with City Council and the Cultural Advisory Board, oversaw the Department’s finances, and increased revenue at all three of Mesa’s city-owned cultural institutions.

Riske is a dedicated public servant who brings more than 16 years of financial and operational strategic leadership experience to his role at University of Arizona.
