Nina Bates
Nina Bates is the Director of Operations and Strategic Initiatives in the Office of the Provost. In this role, she builds and strengthens partnerships, leads cross-functional teams, and mobilizes resources to advance Provost-led strategic initiatives and university-wide projects aligned with the Academic Success Goals. Many of these efforts span organizational boundaries and require broad collaboration across colleges and administrative units.
Her portfolio includes oversight of the Provost’s Investment Funds, the Provost Fellows for Academic Success Goals, the Provost’s Postdoctoral Fellows Program, and a range of additional initiatives supported by the Provost’s Investment Fund. She also manages the creation and distribution of the university-wide Faculty Digest and support communications for the Office of the Provost in collaboration with Chief of Staff. In addition, she provides strategic project management support for multiple task forces.
Her past projects included the Student Success District, Grand Challenges Research Building, NSSE Surveys, Arizona Esports, and the Pandemic Academic Coordination Group.
Nina began her career at the University of Arizona in 2003. She earned her undergraduate degree from Sanata Dharma University in Indonesia, a master’s degree in Educational Psychology from the University of Arizona, and a master’s degree in Administration from Northern Arizona University. She also holds a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute (PMI). In her spare time, she enjoys traveling and spending time with her family.
