Jennifer Martin

Jennifer Martin is the Interim Associate Vice Provost for Faculty Advancement. In her role she provides support for the hiring process, and recruitment and retention with a focus on inclusive best practices. In addition, she also supports the career track faculty promotion process and Strategic Priority Faculty Initiative. 

Jennifer is a full ranked Librarian in the Health Sciences Library at the University of Arizona Libraries and a Clinical Instructor in the Department of Pharmacy Practice and Science in the R. Ken Coit College of Pharmacy. Jennifer plays a vital role in supporting the education of the next generation of health sciences professionals by delivering library services, mentoring students and faculty peers, and supporting the health sciences curriculum. As an embedded librarian, she supports the research and scholarship of faculty, students and staff through consultation, collaboration, and library instruction.  

Jennifer’s research interests include the study of information literacy skills, for which she was a recipient of the New Investigator Award from the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP). Her research interests also include the scholarship of teaching and learning, information seeking behavior, embedded librarianship, and assessing the impact of library and drug information instruction for pharmacy students. Her work in embedded health sciences librarianship and information literacy among pharmacy students led to an internationally funded collaboration by the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science. 

She has held professional leadership roles and served as the Chair (2019-2020) of the Library and Information Sciences Section (LIS) of AACP. As Chair-Elect of LIS in 2018-2019 she served as their Program Committee Chair for the Annual Meeting. She also is a content contributing editor to Basic Resources for Pharmacy Education and the Core Journals List for Pharmacy Education. She was selected as a Fellow of the Association of Research Libraries’ Leadership and Career Development Program (2018 – 2019) and currently serves on the Journal of the American Medical Association Network Library Advisory Board. 

Jennifer earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in chemistry and Master of Arts degree in information resources and library sciences from the University of Arizona. She is an enrolled member of the San Carlos Apache Tribe and an Arizona native.
